Pellego Security Risk Consulting is owned and operated by Steve Unwin MSc.
Steve served for 24 years in the Royal Navy, with the latter part specialising in counter-terrorist physical security measures. He was then employed as head of security for one of the UK’s largest food processors and manufacturers, responsible for 43 UK factory locations as well as 250 farms and breeding units, his wide ranging remit, advising on all types of security issues including Bio-food terrorism.
Subsequent positions held include security manager for a leading budget supermarket chain’s distribution centres, and as part of the senior management team overseeing the operational security activity for a UK banking group.
More recently Steve was employed initially as a security risk manager for one of the top four UK manned guarding companies, and was responsible for establishing the proof of concept and security risk based approach ethos for their security risk consultancy. This successfully developed into a full service offering across the whole client base and led to the expansion of the security risk department providing several multi skilled security risk consultants throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
He has co authored and developed a comprehensive two day Security Risk Management Course which was successfully delivered to over 150 in house managers and external customers.
His work has twice been nominated for the prestigious Security Excellence Award Training Initiative, and he also co-authored and delivered the much acclaimed Security Management Diploma, a Level 4 professional qualification which was a joint venture with Middlesex University.
Steve holds the MSc in Security and Risk Management from Leicester University and the Certificate in Terrorism Studies from St Andrew’s University. Steve is also a Department Of Transport licensed instructor in the recognition of firearms and explosives.
His professional memberships include The Security Institute, Association of Security Consultants, American Society of Industrial Security and the Chartered Management Institute.
